I was approached by Walter Pfaeffle, the publisher of Germerica.net to re-design their website.
The original design was not working for them and they wanted to approach the new site with a more modern look without being too splashy.
I basically kept to the layout they had but modernized the look with more colors, changing fonts and styling.
Did you know that 43 million Americans trace their heritage to Germany? Add German speakers from other regions of the old Hapsburg Empire and Switzerland, and the number of German Americans climbs to an unequaled 60 million.
German- Americans helped establish this nation in remarkable ways, forging freedom of speech in the 1730s and putting a man on the moon in 1969. Yet the voice of America’ s dominant ethnic group is unheard.
Our rich heritage is hardly mentioned in history books, largely because of virulent anti-German sentiment following two wars, in particular World War I. Many ethnic Germans responded by suppressing their heritage.
So if you got German in your genes, look back with pride at the unique achievements of your immigrant ancestors.
The dynamic voice of the Great Unheard needs to be heard both in society and in Washington.
Germerica.net provides that voice.
