ABOUT ME

A little bit about my colorful life and my family: My name is Estee Bauernebel-Chong. I was born in Malaysia, grew up in Australia, married to an Austrian and I am now residing in New York City. We’ve lived in Asia, Australia and Europe before moving to the Big Apple in 1999.  I have two beautiful children: Max was born shortly after 9/11 in April 2002 and my daughter Mia in 2007. You could say that my family are the love of my life – they motivate me, inspire me, bring me up when I’m feeling down, oh, not to forget they can make every effort to get on my raw nerves too.

We were lucky enough to end up in New York City. A city so colorful, vibrant and abound with creativity – in every corner there’s always something new flourishing.

Boxx Media first started as a small web design firm in 1999. I came up with the name Boxx (deriving from box) because at that time we (my husband and I, sans kids) were both living and working in a tiny one bedroom apartment in the hub of Silicon Alley (Downtown). I always called it “living and working in a box”. Voilà! Boxx Media was born!

A lot has changed since than. I felt that I needed to work around the concept of web design but I just did not know how or what exactly that I needed to get done. All I know was that my lifestyle was ever changing and balancing work and family was getting more and more difficult. I was looking for simplicity, simple solutions. And that’s when it struck me! Based upon my experience and how I’ve used the web to simplify my life (and survive), I saw this as a foundation for creating affordable and simple web solutions. I want to be able to help small businesses, mom & pop stores, a friend next door or just about anyone who wants to have a web presence go online with ease. Look at me as your guide through this process.
